What Is A Memory Evaluation?
It is 2 to 3 hours of testing with Dr. Tammy, a memory specialist. The tests measure how well your family member's memory, thinking, and judgment are working compared to other people their age. Dr. Tammy also checks every medication they take, because some medications mixed together can cause memory problems. You get the answers in a written report within 14 days.
Who Needs One?
Families book a memory evaluation when someone they love is:
- Repeating the same stories or questions
- Forgetting conversations, names, or appointments
- Putting things in strange places, like the checkbook in the freezer
- Making unusual mistakes with money or driving
- Already told 'it might be dementia' but given no plan
If a doctor told you to get a neuropsych evaluation, this is that evaluation.
What Can The Results Show?
Something treatable.
Sometimes memory problems are caused by medications, sleep, thyroid, or depression. Those can get better with the right treatment.
A memory disease, caught early.
If it is dementia or Alzheimer's, you find out early. Early is when medicine and planning help the most.
Normal aging.
Sometimes the testing shows the memory is normal for their age, and your family can stop worrying.
Whichever answer it is, you leave with a written plan for what to do next.
Who Is Dr. Tammy?

Dr. Tammy trained at Yale and spent 15 years testing patients' memory in hospitals. She was one of the experts who tested former NFL players' brains in the famous concussion lawsuit. Her own mother has memory problems and lives in an assisted living home, so she has sat exactly where you are sitting. She started her own practice so families could be tested in two weeks instead of six months.
The free 15-minute Clarity Consultation is a phone call. You tell Dr. Tammy what you have been seeing, and she tells you whether an evaluation makes sense and what to do next.
The evaluation isn't the product. The plan is the product.
